Prevent WhatsApp from saving photos to your phone
- Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone. Go to
Settings at the bottom.
- Tap
Chats
- Find the setting called
Save to Camera Roll and ensure it is turned off
Once this is turned off, WhatsApp will no longer save all downloaded photos and videos to your phone’s albums. The photo will only be inside the WhatsApp app, and will get deleted after some time.
If you want to save a photo to your phone:
- Open the photo you need on WhatsApp
- At the bottom-left of the screen, find the Share icon and tap on it
- Click on
Save
Delete photos from WhatsApp
- Launch WhatsApp on your phone. Go to
Settings at the bottom.
- Tap
Storage and Data and then Manage Storage.
- Choose the specific group or individual name. It will show you the storage space occupied by this chat's text, photos, GIFs, videos, etc.
- Tap on the chat and then click on
Select on top-right.
- Select all the media you want to delete and click on the Delete icon on bottom right
Delete photos permanently
You need to do this after you delete photos from WhatsApp. This will completely remove photos from phone.
